Imprint Entertainment is launching a new kids content division, helmed by former DreamWorks producer Maryann Garger (pictured left) and Imprint CEO Michael Becker (pictured right).
The division will create, develop and produce a wide range of family-friendly content, including TV series, films and podcasts. It’s a shift for the LA-based studio, which has focused on decidedly more adult fare to date, including Nicholas Cage starrer Primal, horror film Zombie Tidal Wave and the marijuana-centric Kid Cannabis.
Imprint Family’s first project is CG-animated feature film Groove Tails, which is in the early stages of production. First announced in 2015, the all-ages comedy adventure follows a group of mice who take part in competitive dance battles in the streets. Bob Logan (The LEGO Ninjago Movie) is directing, and Johnny Mack (Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!) wrote the script. Garger and Becker are producing the movie along with actor Jamie Foxx (Soul), who is also in the starring role.
Garger is a veteran producer who worked at DreamWorks for more than a decade on films including Flushed Away, Madagascar and Shrek. She was also a producer at Warner Bros. Pictures (The LEGO Ninjago Movie), and worked at Disney on Pocahontas.
