The show will wrap up in 2022, but PBS KIDS and GBH plan to explore ways to leverage its large back catalogue, says Carol Greenwald.

Arthur—the longest-running kids animated series with 25 seasons under its belt—is coming to an end in winter 2022.

While the show is ending, its co-producers at GBH and PBS KIDS plan on collaborating to create additional Arthur content and to find new ways to leverage the brand’s extensive back catalogue of content, says Carol Greenwald, senior executive producer at GBH.

The series for four- to seven-year-olds has been a staple for both US-based pubcasters since its launch in 1996, following the adventures of aardvark Arthur Read and his friends and family through more than 250 episodes.

Cookie Jar Entertainment produced the first 15 seasons before handing the reigns over to 9 Story for seasons 16 to 19. Most recently, Canada’s Oasis Animation has handled production on seasons 20 to 25.

Old episodes will remain available on the PBS KIDS website and linear channel.
