California-based ZAG is expanding its licensing team once more with the appointment of Marifely Argüello Montealegre as VP of product development for the US and Latin America. In the newly created role, she will head up creative strategies and product development for the LA-based animation studio’s consumer products programs, as well as grow the CP creative team in the regions.

Based in Miami, Argüello Montealegre started in her new position on August 3 and reports to Julian Zag, EVP of global operations. She will focus on asset creation and design, trends, product direction and style guides for all ZAG Heroez brands, including the company’s flagship Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir property and newer IPs Ghostforce and Power Players.

Argüello Montealegre joins ZAG after working in various consumer products roles for more than a decade at ViacomCBS, most recently serving as senior creative manager for promotions and e-commerce in Latin America. Her brand portfolio included Paw Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

She isn’t the only former ViacomCBS exec now working at ZAG. In March, Angela Cortez left her VP of consumer products position for ViacomCBS LatAm to take up the same role at ZAG. Two months later, former ViacomCBS exec Betsabe Luna also moved over to ZAG in a newly created role as director of retail and licensing for Mexico and Central America. Additionally, the company recently hired Melisa Fuhr as licensing and retail director of South America.
